Dakota Johnson and musician Role Model have reportedly called it quits, bringing their relatively private romance to an end less than a year after the pair were first romantically linked.
A source told People that the 36-year-old actress and 29-year-old singer, whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury, ended their relationship “a while ago.”
Representatives for Johnson and Pillsbury had not publicly commented on the breakup as of Wednesday evening. TMZ also reported that the couple is no longer together.
The news comes only weeks after Pillsbury publicly acknowledged their relationship while discussing Johnson’s appearance on his new music.
Dakota Johnson and Role Model Were First Linked in Late 2025
Johnson and Pillsbury first sparked dating speculation in December 2025 after they were spotted having dinner together. They were subsequently seen on several outings, including a Los Angeles date and a springtime walk through New York City.
By April, a source described the relationship to People as more than a casual romance and said Johnson was taking things slowly after the end of her lengthy relationship with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
Johnson and Martin had been together on and off beginning in 2017 before their relationship ended in June 2025. The two had also reportedly been engaged for years.
Pillsbury previously dated influencer Emma Chamberlain, with their relationship ending in 2023.
Their Romance Recently Crossed Into Role Model’s Music
Although Johnson and Pillsbury largely avoided discussing their private life, their relationship recently became part of Pillsbury’s work.
Johnson contributed a spoken-word appearance to “Love I You,” a track from his album Chuck Timely & the Hourglass. According to reporting about the recording, Johnson happened to visit the studio while Pillsbury was working and ultimately became part of the song.
That collaboration made the breakup particularly unexpected because it arrived just as the pair had become somewhat more open about their relationship.
The exact timing of the split remains unclear.
Dakota Johnson Has Several Major Film Projects Ahead
Johnson, meanwhile, remains busy professionally.
The Materialists star is scheduled to appear alongside Anne Hathaway and Josh Hartnett in the upcoming movie Verity. She is also working on Three Incestuous Sisters, which features Saoirse Ronan, Jessie Buckley, and Josh O’Connor.
For now, neither Johnson nor Pillsbury has publicly explained what led to the end of their relationship.
